Iván López Núñez is a film director based in Amsterdam.

He has made short films, commercials, TV-series and feature films, including the award-winning short De Overkant, which won him the Silver Méliès at the Imagine Film Festival, Pijn his graduation film, won the Nassenstein Startprijs and was selected for several international festivals and his commercial Maffia won him a Young Director Award at the Cannes Lions.

His TV-movie Barbosa received a Golden Calf nomination (the Dutch equivalent of the Academy Awards) for Best TV Drama. And his first feature My Life on Planet B won the Movie Squad award at the Netherlands Film Festival. He also co-wrote and directed the web-series Max and Billy’s Drill Machine Girl, which was nominated with an International Digital Emmy.

Additionally, he has directed episodes for Dutch TV-series such as Sterke Verhalen uit Zoutvloed, Van God Los, Project Orpheus, VluchtHS13, Voetbalmaffia and Commando’s.

Besides his work as a film director, Iván works as a guest lecturer for the
Netherlands Film Academy.

Iván believes that making films should be as much fun as watching them. That’s why, as a filmmaker his main focus is to entertain, to grab the attention of the audience and never let them go.
